What Happens in Memphis SHOULDN’T Stay in Memphis

Make your own sanctuary at home with these Wellness Wins for the digitally drained.

Hey there!

I just had the most wonderful weekend escape to Memphis with my husband. Our dear friends opened their home and their hearts to us, showering us with delicious food and a truly beautiful change of scenery. It was such powerful reminder of how much a little sanctuary and connection can recharge our batteries amidst the everyday hustle.

Inspired by that feeling of being nurtured and finding peace in a new environment, here are a few restorative tips you can weave into your week.

3 Wellness Wednesday Tips:

  1. Gratitude Grounding with Frankincense: Just like the sanctuary our friends provided, you can create your own inner sanctuary. Take a moment to close your eyes and bring to mind one thing you are truly grateful for right now. As you hold that feeling, inhale the grounding aroma of frankincense essential oil from your palms (diluted with a carrier oil if your skin is sensitive). This simple practice can anchor you in the present moment and amplify feeling of peace and gratitude.

  2. Lemon Sunshine Shower Boost: Remember that a change of scenery can change your whole perspective. You can bring a little of that invigorating energy into your day right in your shower. Place a few drops of lemon essential oil on the shower floor away from the direct stream of water. The uplifting aroma will diffuse with steam, creating an energizing and mood-boosting experience, washing away any lingering mental fogginess.

  3. Peaceful Pillow Mist with Lavender: To create your own restful haven, make a simple pillow mist by combining distilled water with a few drops of lavender essential oil in a spray bottle. A little shake and then a light spritz on your pillow before bed can promote relaxation and a sense of calm, helping you drift off to dreamland.

2 Mindful Moments

  1. The Gentle Breath

Take one minute right now to simply focus on your breath. Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest or abdomen. There is nothing to change or fix, just observe the natural rhythm of your breath. This anchors you in the present and cultivates a sense of inner stillness.

  2. Sound Awareness

Find a quiet space for a minute this week. Close your eyes and simply notice the sounds around you (this is a wonderful exercise to do outside!). Again, no judgment or labeling them as good or bad. Allow them to come and go. This practice helps you quiet the mental chatter and expand your awareness.

1 Last Thing…

What is one small way you can create a sense of sanctuary for yourself today, even in if your life is totally crazy right now?

I always look forward to your responses. Wishing you a Wednesday filled with moments of peace and well-being!

Warmly,

Laura
