You are Only One Breath Away from a Less Chaotic Day
And all that blooms around you, can also bloom in you.

The digital world demands. Always more to do, another email, another task. My days often feel like a high-speed chase. And then… the air shifts.
Here in Missouri, it’s thick with it now. A sweet, almost intoxicating fragrance that sneaks in everywhere. The culprit? The multiflora roses, exploding in white blossoms all over the farm.
And they stop me. Every time.
Mid-email, mid-scroll – that scent hits. An invisible hand, a soft but firm nudge: “Stop. Breathe this in.”
And I obey. Porch, car window, barn chores – I just inhale. That heady perfume, a natural reset.
It’s a rebellion, this pause. Defiance against the to-do list. The roses just bloom, relentlessly, offering a silent invitation: be present, appreciate beauty, just be.
It’s a reminder that even in demanding times, nature offers these gifts, these sensory anchors. Not about perfect Zen, but small, stolen moments of pure joy. Let the roses’ bloom remind us to smell them. And maybe find a little balance.
Now, to those gold nuggets…
3 Wellness Wins
This week, my little corner of South Central Missouri has been utterly transformed by the explosion of multiflora roses. Their sweet, pervasive scent is a constant invitation to simply stop and be present. It’s a powerful reminder that even amidst our busy lives, nature offers these beautiful, sensory anchors.
Rose-Infused Refresh: If you have access to natural rosewater (you can often find it online or in some health food stores), try spritzing a little on your face or wrists throughout the day. The delicate floral scent can be surprisingly uplifting and a gentle reminder to pause and refresh your senses.
Citrus & Floral Diffuser Blend: Even if you don't have roses blooming nearby, you can create a bright and uplifting atmosphere with essential oils. Try diffusing a blend of Bergamot (for its joyful aroma) and a touch of Geranium (which has a lovely floral note). This can help to uplift your mood and bring a hint of springtime indoors.
Mindful Outdoor Moment: Even a few minutes spent outdoors, noticing the smells of your local environment – whether it's freshly cut grass, blooming trees, or even just the clean air after a rain – can be incredibly grounding. Take a deliberate pause to inhale deeply and appreciate the natural aromas around you.
2 Mindful Moments
The Coffee Ritual: This week, try to truly smell your coffee before you take that first sip. Notice the different notes and aromas. Engaging your sense of smell can make this everyday ritual a little more mindful.
The Hand Lotion Pause: When you apply hand lotion, take a moment to appreciate the scent. Inhale deeply and let the aroma be a brief point of focus in your day.
1 Final Thought
What is one small sensory detail in your environment right now that you can intentionally notice and appreciate?
Wishing you a week filled with moments of joy in the moment and unexpected pauses!
Warmly,
Laura

This week at the blog, we are talking about healthy snacking strategies when it seems everyday is a new birthday cake. Also, we talk about better breathing in an enclosed office environment.
